RYA qualifications are the most internationally recognized yachting qualifications in the world. With an RYA Day Skipper license, you can charter a boat for your own holiday all over the world. You can even work commercially as a professional seafarer*, whilst building experience towards your RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster course qualifications. As a boat owner, you will be able to use your vessel to its full potential whilst enjoying reduced insurance costs.

The combination of the RYA Day Skipper Theory Exam Online and practical course will enable you to step up from crew to skipper, with the confidence and knowledge to take charge of a motor or sailboat. Be prepared to challenge yourself, the RYA day skipper theory covers a wide range of subjects and we have packed this course with important and useful content. Once you have completed it with Ardent Training you’ll have the foundations to build experience as a safe and knowledgeable Skipper.

Once all the Day Skipper coursework has been completed, Ardent Training will help you decide if you are ready for the online RYA Day Skipper Theory exam. The Day Skipper exam is broken into two 1.5hr papers that are designed to be taken consecutively. It’s all completed at home, in a format that you will be familiar with from the Day Skipper module assessments, and you’ll be given feedback from your examiner.

There are no extra fees for the exam (unless you need it invigilated for commercial purposes*).

This is not an attendance course and we cannot guarantee everyone who signs up that they will pass the Day Skipper Theory online exam and get a certificate. However, we do endeavour to coach every student to a passing standard and inspire them along the way and we promise that so long as you are willing to put the effort in and accept our guidance, we won’t give up on you until you pass.

After completing your online RYA Day Skipper Theory online Shorebased qualification, you will have the theory needed to take charge of a motor or sailboat in day time. You will also gain an introductory knowledge of night navigation.

The RYA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence is often the ultimate aim of aspiring skippers. It is a well known, highly respected qualification worldwide, proving your experience and competence as a skipper. Your qualification must be appropriate to the vessel and area of operation. For commercial use, all certificates must be commercially endorsed.

A commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence will enable you to skipper vessels up to 24 metres in length, operating in category 3,4,5, and 6 waters – up to 20 miles from a safe haven. A commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence will enable you to work as a Master of commercial vessels of up to 200gt in category 1 to 6 waters – that is up to 150 miles from a safe haven.

The RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Theory Online Course by Ardent Training is an advanced theory program focusing on navigation, safety, meteorology, and IRPCS. It’s tailored for those seeking RYA Coastal Skipper or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Qualifications.

This course is a necessary precursor to the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical courses/exams. Successfully completing the course enhances prospects such as yacht chartering, insurance premium reduction, and offshore professional skippering. It’s ideal for experienced skippers looking to extend their voyaging capabilities.

Upon completion of the coursework, Ardent Training assists students in preparing for the online RYA Yachtmaster Theory exam. The exam comprises three papers and can be taken at home. Examiner feedback is provided after completion.

After completing the online RYA Yachtmaster Theory qualification, students gain the knowledge to navigate a motor or sail boat in day or night, and in challenging coastal and offshore environments.

Students earn the RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate. To receive the full RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster qualification, students must complete a practical course or exam at a practical center of their choice.
