Practical Sailing Courses

On our 5-6 day practical sailing courses we meet onboard at 1800h on Sunday evening if coming from abroad or 10am on Monday morning if local. During the course of the week we set sail from Sotogrande (Spain) and sail to Morocco, Gibraltar, Ceuta and back to Spain (weather dependent).

It’s a fantastic sailing ground covering a variety of interesting countries and ports all within close proximity of the other. This makes for a great training ground whether a beginner or a Yachtmaster. The Straits of Gibraltar are filled with dolphins and the scenery is outstanding.

Durning your course we supply you with fresh bed linen, duvets, all safety gear, breakfasts, lunches and 2 evening meals. The other meals we eat ashore in the various different stops along the way. (there is section on dietary requirements in the Booking Form). We also cover all mooring fees and fuel costs.

All our boats have hot and cold running water, however showering facilities ashore are available at every stop if preferred. Please bring your own toiletries and a towel.

On the whole it’s shorts and T-shirt weather here but it’s a good idea to bring some warmer clothes for night sailing or for forays ashore in the evening!  We have waterproofs you are welcome to use or feel free to bring your own.

Practical Motor Courses

On our 4-6 day practical motor cruising courses we meet onboard at 10am on your start day.

Whilst onboard we provide all safety gear, navigation equipment, fuel and mooring fees, lunches and refreshments. (there is section on dietary requirements in the Booking Form)

Throughout your training you will return to Sotogrande at the end of the day, even after a night sail. (Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore courses follow a slightly different timetable). Accommodation is of your choosing ashore. (See ‘Location and Accommodation’ for options)

Most of the year it’s shorts and T-shirt weather, however it’s a good idea to bring some warmer clothes for night time training or for forays ashore in the evening!  We have waterproofs you are welcome to use or feel free to bring your own.

New to Boating?

Some Do’s & Don’ts

Black soled shoes and high heels are a definite “no no”, so please be sure to bring with you either deck shoes or non-marking footwear.

Space is at a premium onboard so try and pack all your gear in a soft bag for easy stowage (i.e. no hard suitcases).

Enjoying the Sun. During both the summer and winter months the sun is quite a force to be reckoned with. A hat, sunglasses and sun block are essentials.

Mal de Mer: If you are concerned you may feel queasy, don’t worry too much as we find it rare when your’e concentrating. However we do carry sea sickness tablets onboard just incase. If you have your own tried and tested remedy then bring it along.

Apres-Sail: After a great days sailing you may want to put your feet up and relax, so feel free to bring along any books, C.D’s or games you may have.

The team at Yachting Sotogrande look forward to welcoming you on boardcool
